Did you know that Sea Salt has a necessary nutrient called iodide. If you love your eggs in the morning, then you get this nutrient daily because eggs are a great source of iodide. Other sources of iodide include fish, seafood, tuna, seaweed, yogurt, milk, cheese, cereal, and bread.
Iodine is a trace element found in the Earth and it is necessary to intake for several reasons.
The Secret in the Salt!
Iodized salt is probably the easiest way to maintain sufficient iodide intake. Iodide is an important nutrient that your thyroid needs to produce certain hormones. Iodide deficiency in your diet can lead to problems such as enlarged thyroid gland and either abnormally low levels of thyroid hormones.
Personally, I take a fourth tsp of Sea Salt with iodide every morning. It helps reduce stress and it does not cause my body to retain water. I also use it in the food that I cook. Here in the South, many different spice blends are on the market and in our grocery stores, but sea salt compliments my overall health. I prefer fine sea salt than coarse seas salt. Every morning, I simply place a fourth tsp of sea salt on the tip of my tongue. I let sit for about a minute and then I flush down with water. I do as soon as I get up and before I eat anything.
Iodide Deficiency Sypmtoms
Our body indicates all sorts of deficiencies with signals. Whether you are iron deficient, vitamin D deficient, or vitamin C deficient; your body will tell on you. The same is true for iodide deficiency. Symptoms associated with a lack of iodide include the following:
- neck swelling
- unexpected weight gain
- fatigue and weakness
- hair loss
- dry skin
- feeling colder than usual
- heart rythms
- heavy or irregular mentrual cycles
